The renewal program aims to transform the operations and facilities of Oulu University Hospital. As part of the long-term strategic partnership, Philips is providing its latest enterprise hospital patient monitoring- and image-guided therapy solutions and innovations as well as maintenance, consultancy and financing services. Advanced image-guided therapy help delivering superior care Philips has delivered 11 state-of-the-art interventional suites to support the hospital’s new interventional cardiology and interventional radiology departments, equipped with the latest release of Philips’ Image Guided Therapy System – Azurion with FlexArm – an advanced image-guided therapy platform that offers the latest innovations to help physicians improve efficiency, workflow and treatment outcomes, while also delivering a unique patient and staff experience. Azurion, together with other integrated live 3D visualization and device guidance solutions from Philips, supports a wide range of minimally invasive procedures, ranging from cardiac and vascular to acute neuro and oncology treatments. Oulu university hospital is equipped with Philips enterprise solution for hospital patient monitoring (IntelliVue X3, IntelliVue MX550, IntelliVue MX850, IntelliVue MX40, PIC iX and mobile software). The Philips patient monitoring solutions enable quick, confident and consistent care that seamlessly connects data, technology and patients. The solution helps address alarm fatigue, clinical variations and to manage patients as they transition in care, ensuring patient safety and quality. With Philips patient monitoring solution, the measured patient data is collected and integrated into various hospital information systems, removing manual steps and ensuring high data quality. The patient monitoring transport solution allows optimized workflows where the patient details, history data and consumables follow the patient seamlessly during the transfers, enabling continuous monitoring and time saving from avoiding the re-attachment of cables or re-admitting of patients. The 10-year strategic partnership agreement will also act as an enabler for collaboration between the hospital and a Philips consultancy team specialized in providing services to drive healthcare transformation. Working closely with Oulu University Hospital, this team will identify unmet needs and help map out the way forward to maximize the benefits of the partnership and associated clinical research collaborations. Together, the organizations will drive efficiency and innovations aimed at helping the hospital deliver on the Quadruple Aim of better health outcomes, increased efficiency, and improved patient and staff experiences. The 10-year partnership agreement also includes an optional 10-year extension.
For very complex procedures or combination therapies where open and minimally-invasive surgery may both be involved, Oulu University Hospital’s interventional suites are also equipped with Philips Azurion Hybrid OR. This integrates a surgical operating room and Azurion into a sterile setting for maximum flexibility.
To support multiple procedure types, the suites are also equipped with Philips Interventional Applications Platform – IntraSight, a secure, fully integrated application-based platform that offers a comprehensive suite of clinically proven physiology, imaging, and co-registration tools for image-guided procedures across the interventional lab workflow.

The enterprise solution connects the hospital's patient monitoring with a central monitoring system, PIC iX. The platform makes all necessary information available to the clinical staff throughout the treatment period, regardless of time and place.
