Uppsala, April 2025 – Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, has announced a new partnership with the private radiology provider Evidia to bring state-of-the-art imaging technology to their facility at the Aleris Elisabeth Hospital in Uppsala.
As part of the partnership, Philips is supporting Evidia with advanced imaging solutions that align with the shared goal of delivering excellent patient care while reducing environmental impact. The heritage-listed building that houses the Elisabeth Hospital will be the first private clinic in Sweden to offer the Helium Free BlueSeal MRI, leading the way in driving sustainable health care.
The partnership includes the installation of the Philips Ambition S BlueSeal MRI, Philips CT 5300 Premium, and Philips Radiography 7300C, enabling Evidia to expand clinical capabilities and provide high-quality diagnostic imaging with sustainability and operational efficiency.
Evidia at Elisabeth Hospital will be the first private clinic in the Nordics to offer Philips CT 5300 Premium. With demand for cardiac CT examinations on the rise, the system’s AI-based image reconstruction can potentially deliver improved image quality, reduced radiation dose, and greater access for patients. With the CT capabilities, Evidia supports reducing regional wait times and ease pressure on the public healthcare system.
At the heart of the partnership is the Philips BlueSeal MRI, an industry-leading innovation in sustainable imaging. Unlike conventional MRI systems that require up to 1,500 liters of helium, the BlueSeal MRI uses only 7 liters of the scarce resource helium, sealed inside the magnet for life. This eliminates the risk of helium loss, reduces environmental impact, and significantly lowers siting and installation requirements, due to the magnet being 900kg lighter than a traditional system, making it ideal for sensitive environments such as heritage-listed buildings. Globally, more than 1.9 million litres of helium have been saved by MR systems equipped with Philips’ BlueSeal magnet technology since 2018.
Looking ahead, the partnership between Philips and Evidia is founded on a commitment to tailored imaging solutions that support clinical excellence and operational efficiency. Together, the two organizations aim to continually enhance the patient experience, ensuring accurate, first-time-right imaging that minimizes patient stress and optimizes outcomes.
“We are proud to work with Evidia in delivering better care for more people thanks to innovative and sustainable imaging technologies that not only support clinical excellence, but also respect the unique needs of their facilities and the communities they serve.” said Izmir Čongo, Business Manager Imaging Nordics at Philips Healthcare
“This partnership marks a significant step forward in advancing accessible, environmentally responsible healthcare at the Aleris Elisabeth Hospital. We are glad to be working with Philips and to be able to meet the demand for diagnostic services in the Uppsala region, while enhancing the patient and clinician experience” said Magnus Frank, CEO Evidia Sweden Driving sustainable healthcare through its partnerships, Philips continues to cement its commitment to providing better care for more people with innovations like BlueSeal setting a new standard in diagnostic imaging.
